Meet Kiara

When Kiara was born, her family were told she would not survive. When she did, they were told they may only have months with her. No one thought she would ever breathe by herself, feed herself, crawl, talk or go to school, but she has. Now it's time for the next challenge - walking.

Kiara was born with a rare condition, Sonic Hedgehog syndrome (a partial duplication of the 7th chromosome), resulting in developmental delays and muscular disabilities, she also has hydrocephalus. By 1 week old, she had undergone 2 brain surgeries. Since then, she’s had eye surgeries, and 2 corrective hip surgeries, plus many other treatments. Kiara remains a happy and determined 8 year old girl, exceeding every expectation set for her. Her condition is so rare, no one knows what lies ahead.

Kiwis Together have been able to secure her deposit for therapy in Australia - the same therapy that helped her sit and crawl 7 years ago.

Kiwis - don't forget $1 a week is all it took to give Kiara a chance at this therapy again.

We can keep achieving big things for Kiwis in need - jump on board for $1 a week and keep the magic rolling.
