Meet Jamie
Jamie is a young mum with a big heart – and a challenge that most of us can’t imagine. She lives with Optic Neuritis, a condition that causes inflammation of the optic nerve. This has lead to blurred or dim vision, blind spots, or even temporary vision loss. It means she cannot legally or safely drive a car, limiting her independence.
But Jamie hasn’t let that stop her. She’s determined to work and support her wee family and give back to others. She’s turned her own hurdles into opportunities – creating visual-friendly morning routines for busy families, offering home reset services for hardworking mums, and being that extra pair of hands when people need it most. Her services include packing and unpacking, cleaning and tidying, organizing wardrobes, homes, or storage spaces, and even small moving-related tasks like assembly or disassembly. Every job she does requires careful planning and often relying on a friend to drive her, which limits how much she can earn and how many people she can help.
That’s where we – the KT family – step in.
We decided to step in and give Jamie something she’s too humble to ask for herself: a motorised scooter. With it, she can reach clients safely and independently, keep supporting her family, and continue helping other mums in the community without relying on public assistance.
Jamie isn’t looking for handouts – she’s the first to pitch in for others. But now it’s our turn to pitch in for her.
We’ll keep our KT family in the loop and share an update once we’ve been able to secure this scooter for Jamie – because her win will be a win for all of us.
As always, there are two ways to donate: either $1 a week or a one-off gift (please put “Jamie” in the reference). Once again, we promise 100% goes to the costs. https://www.kiwistogether.org.nz/donate
